Welcome to Grass Valley / Nevada City Chapter of Model A Ford Club of America (MAFCA) web site! Come join us and enjoy the Model A Ford and it's era. Ownership of a Model A is not required. Anyone who holds an interest (or obsession in some cases... uh hum) in this classic automobile is welcome. Our members come from all over western Nevada County in the Sierra foothills with one thing in common, HENRY'S LADY.
We are an active chapter with many events. Activities include parades, driving tours, swap meets, technical sessions, and various social events. The club is also a member of the Northern California Regional Group as well as MAFCA. See Facebook for recent club events.

Greetings, I hope all are well and that everyone’s car is ready for tours. It’s been chaos around here, but the Johnson’s are ready to hit the road. Who all saw the article in the Union? Who has finally liked us on Facebook? Who is committed to getting the word out on our club? If we don’t keep pushing, then how will we get new members. Paul Shinn says Model A interest is going up, and that we all need to reach out to local media etc. to get more people in the hobby.

The Johnson’s, Mitchell’s and Plante’s all went on a journey to find the best ever, most epic, most unbelievable Model A roads. And we found them. They do exist. Turns out they’re off of Highway 395. We explored Bridgeport, Silver Lake. The Alabama hills and more. Would you believe there’s even a train museum. The roads are wonderful and endless.
July-August 2025
What a pleasant summer we’re having thus far. Sure a few warm days but overall much cooler than most years. This in turn translates to more time behind the wheel of our Model A’s. A few of us have really put down some mileage. At the end of July thru early August, five club members embarked on a five day journey in and around Graeagle CA. In all the cars performed well for the week, clocking somewhere between 500 and 600 miles in total on a combination of paved and alternate roads. It was a blast.

Meetings
Meetings are usually held at 7:00 PM on the fourth Thursday of each month (except Nov & Dec). November & December meetings are combined holiday/meeting social events at selected locations. Winter meetings are usually held at TrailBlazer Pizza in Alta Sierra. Dinner is 6:00 to 7:00 PM for those who wish. Meeting starts at 7:00 PM. Summer meeting locations may vary and include outdoor locations with a picnic before the meeting. Check Calendar for location changes. Visitiors are welcome to attend a meeting to learn more about the club.

2026 Club Meetings
May 26 and June 25 meetings will be at Trailblazer Pizza (meeting room) in Alta Sierra. Arrive about 6 PM to have dinner first. Meeting starts at 7 PM. Summer locations have not been finalized. Details will be posted soon.
UPCOMING Model A Tours:
Club members will be participating in two 4th of July parades, (1) Nevada City and (2) Chicago Park. There will be a 4th of July picnic at Club President Aaron Johnson’s home after the parades.
Membership
Annual dues are $25 per year per family. You are welcome to attend a meeting to learn more about our club. For more information, contact Gary Spencer.

Membership in MAFCA is also recommended, which includes subscription to Restorer Magazine. The Restorer is MAFCA's award-winning publication published six times a year that features articles about the Model A Ford, news of Chapters and activities, and other interesting features.
